The Lives of Sarah
חַיֵּי שָׂרָה

Although the Parsha is called “The Lives/Lifetimes of Sarah”-חַיֵּי שָׂרָה it actually details her death and the purchase by Abraham of the Machpelah Cave in Kiryat Arbah, Hebron for her burial there. The Machpelah Cave is to become the Ancestral Burial Chamber for the Patriarchs and Matriarchs. It is the entrance to the Garden of Eden and there Adam and Chava (Eve) are buried.

In total 8 people are buried there. At the end of the Parsha are detailed the death of Abraham and the death of Ishmael. Thus a Parsha which begins and ends in death is called "Lives of Sarah".

What then does the Torah refer to by the words the "Lives"- חַיֵּיof Sarah?

She had a second life- as her soul reincarnated into the body of Rivkah (Rebecca) the future wife of Isaac. This is why the majority of the Parsha details how Rivkah was chosen and brought by Eliezer the Damascene servant of Abraham to become a wife for Isaac.

Sarah "died" at the beginning and "lived" at the end. However before she "died" we learn at the end of the last Parsha of her birth (the birth of Rivkah). This teaches us that death is a lie of physicality and that souls reincarnate until they have reached their state of rectification and their purpose. The soul of Sarah still had "work" to do in the physical world to ensure the Final Redemption of her People, The Jewish People, at the End of Days.

The gematria of the word "lives of"- חַיֵּי is 28 =10=1.

The gematria of the name "Sarah"- שָׂרָה is 505 =10=1.

The gematria of the words “Lives of Sarah”- חַיֵּי שָׂרָה is 533 =11=2. This gematria teaches us that Sarah had 2 lives.

If the letter “Chet”- ח is counted as 14 (two letters "Zayin"-ז זjoined together as written in a Torah scroll - ח) then we observe the following:
·         The gematria of the word "lives"- חַיֵּי is 34+1 word=8.
·         The gematria of the name "Sarah"- שָׂרָה is 505 =10=1.
·         The gematria of the words “Lives of Sarah”- חַיֵּי שָׂרָה is 539=17=8 or + 2 words= 541=10=1.
The number 541 is the gematria of the Name "Israel"-   ישראל.

Thus Sarah is the Mother of Israel through her two lives. She gave birth to Isaac and then in her reincarnated soul of Rivkah to Jacob who had his name changed to "Israel".

Sarah Immenu lived a "double" life in two halves – שְׁנֵי חַיֵּי שָׂרָה.Thus Sarah’s life is written in the plural- חַיֵּי –"lives".

Two Lives of Sarah

שְׁנֵי חַיֵּי שָׂרָה

998=26=8

(חַ=14)

The number 26is the gematria of the Name  YKVK Hashem-יהוה

Sarah lived to the age of 127
 as it is written:

1.’ And the lifetimes of Sarah were a hundred years and twenty years and seven years; the years of the lifetimes of Sarah-וַיִּהְיוּ חַיֵּי שָׂרָה מֵאָה שָׁנָה וְעֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה וְשֶׁבַע שָׁנִים שְׁנֵי חַיֵּי שָׂרָה(4743=18 counting final Mems as 600).

One hundred years and twenty years and seven years
מֵאָה שָׁנָה וְעֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה וְשֶׁבַע שָׁנִים
2160=1+8

The number 2160 is tenfold the number of letters in the Explicit Name of Hashem (216). This is the Name of G-d that came into existence at the time of the "division" of the Name "Hai" (18) into two halves (1 and 8), the physical and the metaphysical worlds.

The gematria of the word "half"- חצי is 108. Thus two halves are 216.

The number 216 also corresponds to the volume in Tefachim (fists) of the Two Tablets of the Testimony that Moses received from Hashem on Mount Sinai. Each Tablet had a volume of 108Tefachim. The joint volume (6*6*6 Tefachim) is 216.

We can thus understand from this gematria of 2160 that the age of Sarah in this lifetime had been fulfilled. Her soul had reached perfection in this current state and it was time to return at another level to complete the work of World Rectification in the body of Rivkah.
