  In the Beginning-In The “Raishit”
 בְּרֵאשִׁית בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ
1.’In the beginning G-d created the Heaven and the Earth-בְּרֵאשִׁית בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ (2701=10=1 or + 7 words=17=8 or 4631=14=8 counting final Zadik and Mem as 900 and 600).

The verse can be divided so:
·         In the beginning G-d created- בְּרֵאשִׁית בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים(1202+3 words=8);
·         The Heaven- אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם(1356+2 words=17=8counting final Mem as 600);
·         And the Earth- וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ (703=10=1 or 1513=10=1counting final Zadik as 900).
Rashi here begins his commentary of the Torah with the fundamental words of the Tanna Rabbi Yitzhak which I have quoted above in the Introduction to the Parsha. So fundamental are these words to understanding the “reason d’être” of the Creation of the Universe and its ultimate “end” that I shall repeat them:

“In the beginning”: Rabbi Yitzhak said: G-d need not have begun the Torah but from “This month shall be for you [the beginning of the months]” (Shmot 12.2) because it is the first commandment which Israel was commanded. What is the reason that it began with the book of Beraishit (Genesis)? It began thus because [it wished to convey the message of the verse in Psalm 111:6], “The power of His acts He told to His People in order to give THEM the estate of nations.” So that if the nations of the world will say to Israel, “you are bandits, for you conquered the lands of the seven nations who inhabited the Land of Canaan,” Israel will reply to them, “The entire earth belongs to The Holy One, Blessed is He. He created it and He gave it to the one found proper in His eyes. By His wish He gave it to them and by His wish He took it from them and gave it to us” (Beraishit Rabbah 1:2).
This then is the purpose of Creation; for Israel to inherit the Land of Canaan as Israel is Hashem’s first-רֵאשִׁית and there Creation began. The first point of contact between the Metaphysical and Physical worlds was the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. This Place was promised to Israel, His Firstborn as the Place where they would serve Hashem.

This explains why the Torah ends with the word “Israel”-יִשְׂרָאֵל as the end (Israel) is its “Beginning”- רֵאשִׁית

All of Israel are in the “Head”-ראש (“Mind”) of Hashem at the beginning as they are at the end:

Before My eyes (I swear)! All of Israel are in My Mind
לְעֵינֵי! כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּרֵאשִׁי
1274=14=8 or + 4 words=18

At the End of Days Israel will return to its rightful place, the Temple Mount in Jerusalem in the Land of Canaan to serve Hashem their Father for the benefit of all Mankind. This is the ultimate purpose of Creation, the dwelling of the Jewish People in the Land of Israel which is the Will of Hashem from before the beginning of time as we know it.

Rashi adds that this verse requires expounding (as there is no noun in the sentence); the verse is to be understood that Hashem created the Universe for the Torah which is called “the beginning of His Way”- רֵאשִׁית דַּרְכּוֹ and for Israel who are called “His first of His Crop”-רֵאשִׁית תְּבוּאָתֹה (Mishlei 8.2; Jeremiah 2.3; Tanchuma Yashan 3; Vayikra Rabbah 36.4).

Torah-The beginning of His Way
תורה- רֵאשִׁית דַּרְכּוֹ
1752+3 words=18

Israel- His First Crop
יִשְׂרָאֵל רֵאשִׁית תְּבוּאָתֹה
2266+3 words=19=10=1

All of Israel are in the Raishit
כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּ-רֵאשִׁית

Israel in My Head
יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּ-רֵאשִׁי

Rashi also explains that from the words “In the Beginning He Created”- בְּרֵאשִׁית בָּרָא one cannot understand the order of Creation, and that Hashem created the Heavens and the Earth first as there is no example in Scripture of the word “Raishit”- רֵאשִׁית which is not attached to a noun after it (see Rashi here for examples). Rashi concludes after his long commentary to this verse that the versecannot possibly teach us the chronology of what was createdearlier or later. Rashi states that the waters preceded the creation of the earth which we learn from verse 2 and the waters even preceded the Creation of the Heavens, as the Heavens were created from fire and water (verse 8 below; Chagigah 12.a).

In other words according to Rashi the first verse of the Torah stands alone.

This supports my opinion as expressed in the section above “Before The Beginning” that the initial thought of Creation on Shabbat cannot be separated from the end, the Shabbat to come at the End, “the Day that is all Shabbat"- יום שכולו שבת. “The End” was thus created at the same instant as “The Beginning” and everything was, is and will be in the Mind of Hashem simultaneously at one point, the mid-point.

This point is Shabbat- שבת.

In other words, the first verse of the Torah relates to what entered the Mind of Hashem on Shabbat which as I explain above is one day divided into two half days, one half before the physical creation and one half at the end of the creation process- the World to Come, that already Came.

Kohelet 7.1
 קהלת 7.1

1. ‘Better a [good] name than good oil; and the day of death than the day of one's birth- טוֹב טוֹב שֵׁם מִשֶּׁמֶן טוֹב וְיוֹם הַמָּוֶת מִיּוֹם הִוָּלְדוֹ (1464+8 words=1472=14=8).

The verse can be divided so:
·         Better a [good] name- טוֹב שֵׁם (357+2 words=17=8 or 917=17=8 or + 2 words = 19 = 10=1 counting final Mem as 600);
·         Than good oil- מִשֶּׁמֶן טוֹב(447+2 words=17=8 or 1097=17=8or + 2 words=19=10=1 counting final Nun as 700);
·         And the day of death- וְיוֹם הַמָּוֶת(513=1+8);
·         Than the day of one's birth- מִיּוֹם הִוָּלְדוֹ (147+2 words=14=8or 707=14=8 counting final Mem as 600).

Rashi explains that a good name is better for a person than good oil, and on the day of death the name is better than on the day of his birth. For this reason a good name is compared to good oil more than to other liquids for if you put water on oil it floats and rise and is recognizable but other liquids are absorbed by water. God oil runs down (Psalms 133.2) while a good name ascends and lasts forever (Beraishit 12.2; Psalms 72.17). When Miriam was born no one knew who she was but when she died the Well disappeared; when Aaron died the Pillar of Cloud disappeared; when Moses died the Manna ceased.

A good name burns longer than good oil. This conclusion is reflected in the following division of the verse:

Better a [good] name than good oil
טוֹב שֵׁם מִשֶּׁמֶן טוֹב
804+4 words=808

And the day of death than the day of one's birth
וְיוֹם הַמָּוֶת מִיּוֹם הִוָּלְדוֹ

Son of David
בֶּן דָּוד

Abraham had the best name of all. He shall return at the end as the Son of David as His name burns longer than all oil.

1. To everything [there is] a time and a season- to every matter [that exists] under the Heavens-לַכֹּל זְמָן וְעֵת לְכָל חֵפֶץ תַּחַת הַשָּׁמָיִם  (2114=8).

All seven words of the first verse are encrypted in the Code of Hai. This teaches us the inner meaning of the verse itself!
·         To everything- לַכֹּל(80=8 or + 1 word=81);
·         A time- זְמָן(97+1 word=8 or 747=18 counting final Nun as 700);
·         And a season- וְעֵת(476=17=8 or +1 word=477=18);
·         To every- לְכָל(80=8 or + 1 word=81);
·         Matter- חֵפֶץ(178+1 word=17=8 or 988+1 word=26=8counting final Zadik as 900);
·         Under- תַּחַת(808+1 word=17=8);
·         The Heavens- הַשָּׁמָיִם (395=17=8 or + 1 word=18 or 955=19=10=1 counting final Mem as 600).

The verse can be divided so:
·         To everything [there is] a time and a season- לַכֹּל זְמָן וְעֵת(653=14=8 or + 3 words=17=8 or  1303+3 words=10=1counting final Nun as 700);
·         To every matter under the Heavens- לְכָל חֵפֶץ תַּחַת הַשָּׁמָיִם  (2831=14=8 or + 4 words = 18 counting final Zadik and Mem as 900 and 600).

The verse can also be divided so:
·         To everything- לַכֹּל(80=8 or + 1 word=81);
·         A time and a season- זְמָן וְעֵת(573+2 words=17=8 or 1223=8 or + 2 words=10=1 counting final Nun as 700);
·         To every matter- לְכָל חֵפֶץ (258+2 words=260=10=1 or 1068+2 words=1070=8 counting final Zadik as 900);

·         Under the Heavens- תַּחַת הַשָּׁמָיִם   (1203+2 words=8 or 1763 =17=8 or + 2 words = 19 =10=1 counting final Zadik and Mem as 900 and 600).

15. 'And they assembled the Yehudi'im that were in Shushan also again on the fourteenth day of the month of Adar and slew three hundred men in Shushan; but they did not partake of the spoils-וַיִּקָּהֲלוּ היהודיים אֲשֶׁר בְּשׁוּשָׁן גַּם בְּיוֹם אַרְבָּעָה עָשָׂר לְחֹדֶשׁ אֲדָר וַיַּהַרְגוּ בְשׁוּשָׁן שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת אִישׁ וּבַבִּזָּה לֹא שָׁלְחוּ אֶת יָדָם (6030=1+8).

The number 6030 is tenfold the gematria of the following significant words:

Esther 3.7
אסתר 3.7

Happy Purim in the World of the Heavens
 פורים שמח בעולם השמים

7.’In the first month, which is the month of Nissan, in the twelfth year-בַּחֹדֶשׁ הָרִאשׁוֹן הוּא חֹדֶשׁ נִיסָן בִּשְׁנַת שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה (3447=18), of King Achashverosh-  לַמֶּלֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵרוֹשׁ(1421=8 or + 2 words = 10=1 counting final Kaf as 500), the Pur (that is, the lot) was cast in the presence of Haman from day to day and from month to month, [finally indicating] the twelfth month, the month of Adar [as the most propitious time to execute his plan]- הִפִּיל פּוּר הוּא הַגּוֹרָל לִפְנֵי הָמָן מִיּוֹם לְיוֹם וּמֵחֹדֶשׁ לְחֹדֶשׁ שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר הוּא חֹדֶשׁ אֲדָר (3313=10=1).

In the previous verse we witness the identical gematria-
·         6.’So Haman sought a way to destroy all the Yehudim who were [scattered] throughout the entire kingdom of Achashverosh-וַיְבַקֵּשׁ הָמָן לְהַשְׁמִיד אֶת כָּל הַיְּהוּדִים אֲשֶׁר בְּכָל מַלְכוּת אֲחַשְׁוֵרוֹשׁ(3303=1+8 or + 10 words=3313=10=1 or 4513+10 words=4523=14=8 counting final Nun and Mem as 700 and 600).
From day to day
מִיּוֹם לְיוֹם
182 or 1302+ 2 words=8 (Mems 600)
And from month to month
וּמֵחֹדֶשׁ לְחֹדֶשׁ
700+2 words=702=1+8

The number 182 is the gematria of the name “Jacob”- יַעֲקֹב. Here then we find the connection to the previous verse-“Esau hates Jacob”- עֵשָׂו שׂוֹנֵא לְיַעֲקֹב. The “People of Mordechai” are the “People of Jacob”-“the People of Israel”.

The number 702 is the gematria of the word “Shabbat”- שַׁבָּת precious to Hashem and corresponding to the World to Come which Esau despised.

From this verse we learn that two lots were cast-one for the day and one for the month. Hence the festival is known as “Purim”- פוּרִים the plural of the word “Pur”- פּוּר.

The word “Pur”- פּוּר is the Persian word for “lot” (Ibn Ezra). Haman cast lots to determine in which month and day he would succeed (Rashi). The verse is silent as to who actually cast the lot- הִפִּיל פּוּר.
The Pur was cast
הִפִּיל פּוּר
411+2 words=8

286+1 word=17=8
The twelfth month the month of Adar
חֹדֶשׁ שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר הוּא חֹדֶשׁ אֲדָר

The Talmud teaches us that all the months turned out favorable for Israel except the month of Adar. Moses died on in this month on the 7thof Adar. He rejoiced thinking that he would succeed. He did not know that Moses was also born on the 7th of Adar (Megilah 13.b). See my Torah commentary to Parshat Shmot as to the significance of the dates of the conception and birth of Moses. He was born three month premature.

The day of Purim, the 14th of Adar is the day that Moses would have undergone circumcision if he would have been circumcised. This day of circumcision the eighth day after birth is considered the “true” birthday of a Jewish male-when he becomes part of the Jewish People and enters the “Covenant of Abraham”. This is the matter that Haman did not understand as he despised Hashem and everything connected to Abraham the founder of the Jewish religion.

According to Judaism if a child is born circumcised he has to undergo a ceremony and slight procedure (fine cut) called “Hatafat Dam”- הטפת דם (blood-letting) to ensure that no part of the foreskin- ערלה is pressed into the male organ thereby slightly covering its “crown”-עטרה (Shabbat 135.a; Tur 263). The ceremony is performed without reciting the traditional blessings and is to be performed on Shabbat if the 8th day falls on Shabbat.
Hatafat Dam
הטפת דם
538+2 words=540=1+8 or 1098=18

Here then we find the reason why the “lot” fell on the 14th of Adar the day that Moses underwent this ceremony when he was born and “his crown” was “released” from pressure. In his merit we were redeemed from the pressure of exile and annihilation in Bavel and given back our crown of freedom to return to the Land of Israel to rebuild the Temple.
The verse relates of the 12th year of the reign of Achashverosh and the lot falling in the 12th month. This relates to the 12 tribes of Jacob that Haman sought to annihilate.
The twelfth year- the twelfth month
שְׁנַת שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה-חֹדֶשׁ שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר

It is no coincidence that I write these words on Yom Sheni the 16th of Ellul 5775 (Monday 31st August). In the World of the Heavens today they are celebrating the festival of Purim!

We wish them.....

Happy Purim!
פורים שמח!
