Jacob's Ladder

סֻלָּם יַעֲקֹב

12.’ And he dreamt, and behold! a ladder set on the earth, and its top reached towards Heaven and behold Angels of G-d ascending and descending on it-וַיַּחֲלֹם וְהִנֵּה סֻלָּם מֻצָּב אַרְצָה וְרֹאשׁוֹ מַגִּיעַ הַשָּׁמָיְמָה וְהִנֵּה מַלְאֲכֵי אֱלֹהִים עֹלִים וְיֹרְדִים בּוֹ (2435=14=8 or + 14 words=2449=19=10=1).

The verse can be divided so:
·         And he dreamt, and behold! a ladder set on the earth, and its top reached towards Heaven- וַיַּחֲלֹם וְהִנֵּה סֻלָּם מֻצָּב אַרְצָה וְרֹאשׁוֹ מַגִּיעַ הַשָּׁמָיְמָה (1754=17=8);
·         And behold Angels of G-d ascending and descending on it- וְהִנֵּה מַלְאֲכֵי אֱלֹהִים עֹלִים וְיֹרְדִים בּוֹ (2361+6 words=18 counting final Mems as 600).
Rashi comments here that the Angels were first ascending first and then they descended. His escorting Angels inside the Land of Israel ascended to Heaven and his escorting Angels outside the Land descended and took over (Beraishit Rabbah 68.11).

Jacob’s Ladder
סֻלָּם יַעֲקֹב
872=17=8
+2 words=19=10=1

The gematria of the words “a ladder set on the earth”- סֻלָּם מֻצָּב אַרְצָה is 558=18 or 1118 counting final Mem as 600.

The number 1118 is very significant in Judaism as it is the gematria of the first verse of the Shema Prayer:

Hear O Israel Hashem is our G-d Hashem is One
שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל יהוה אֱלֹהֵינוּ יהוה אֶחָד
1118
The number 1118 is also the gematria of the first two words of the Torah:
In the Beginning He Created
Beraishit Bara
בראשית ברא
1116+2 words=1118

The number 1118 also corresponds to the three points that the mid-point of two circles is touched when drawing a figure 8. This mid-point corresponds to the beginning, middle and end of Torah; to the past present and future; to the three Forefathers; to the three Foot Festivals and to the Three Temples.

This point is the axis of the entire Universe from where Heaven and Earth were created.This is on Mount Moriah-The Temple Mount in Jerusalem. The point where Hashem touched and created the earth-In the Beginning.

Jacob was the third Forefather. He closed the figure eight on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem.

There he said  the Shema Prayer.
